Obituary of Agnes Virginia MacGillivray

EGERTON/DUNMAGLASS – Agnes Virginia MacGillivray, 85, Egerton, formerly of Dunmaglass, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Mary Cormier. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. Agnes was a dedicated mother and a “Mom” to many. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Following the passing of her husband, Hugh John, she was blessed with a canine companion, Thumper, who lovingly stayed by her side each day. Agnes was a beautiful lady, mentor and inspiration, who’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. For Agnes, “Life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are her children, Debbie MacGillivray, Saint John, N.B.; Al MacGillivray, Merigomish; Hughie (Darrellene) MacGillivray, Saint John; David (Dianne) MacGillivray, Saint John; Carol (Anthony) MacDonald, Merigomish; stepson, John (Elaine) Fogg, Winnipeg, Man.; grandchildren; Michelle, Shawn, Elaine, Barry, Sanja, Mark, Adam, Kiera and Sherri; great-grandchildren; Samantha, Lacey, Ashley, Kennedy, Isabella, Chase, Merrick, Maquailla, Kai, Henrik, Elliot, Jonas and Marlie; great, great-grandson, Desmond; siblings, Margie and Gilbert; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hugh John MacGillivray; sons, Michael and Mark; siblings, Jessie, Helen, Albert, Cyril, Paul and two in infancy. A private graveside service will be held at a later in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lismore. Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Agnes’ family wish to thank Dr. Anne Kwasnik-Krawczyk, Debbie Williams, RN, Rachel MacDonald, RN, Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow; Pictou County VON Nursing and Home Care staff; Dr. Stephen Gallant, Lori, Dr. Ron McCormick and the Oncology Unit, St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish for the excellent care Agnes received.
