Obituary of Shirley Ann Cameron

COALBURN – Shirley Ann Cameron, Salt Springs, formerly of Coalburn, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 31, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in 1935 in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Florence (Patterson) Smith. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, where she served with the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Shirley enjoyed acting with the church drama club and the United States trips. She was a long-time participant in the Tai Chi classes at the YMCA and with the 55 Plus Club. Shirley looked forward to summers spent in New Harbour and traveling throughout the province. She enjoyed knitting mittens for her grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered as a lovely, kind and sociable lady. Surviving are her daughter, Darlene (Moodie), Pictou; sons, Sheldon (Adele), Trenton; Sherwin (Sherry), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Carla (Jonathan), New Glasgow; Kara, New Glasgow; Natalie (Brandon), Toronto, Ont.; great-grandchildren, Katarina, Braxton, Bria and Braelyn; companion, Bob. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy Cameron; sister, Alice Lipton; long-time companion, Gordon MacLeod. A private graveside service will be held.
