Obituary of Cecil Wilfred Ross

WALKERVILLE - Cecil Wilfred Ross, 60, Walkerville, formerly of Thorburn and Margaree Valley, passed away suddenly Wednesday, June 19, 2013 surrounded by his family in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Margaree Valley, he was the son of Elizabeth Rose (Crowdis) Tompkins, Margaree Valley and the late Wilfred Edgar Ross. He had worked at Michelin Tire Canada for 32 years. He was an avid softball player and had been a member of many Pictou County Teams. Cecil enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, listening to music and spending time with his cat “Sassy”. He was a loving, partner, son, dad, grampie, brother, uncle, friend and caring neighbor. Surviving are his companion and best friend, Judy Thomsen; daughter, Courtney Ross, New Glasgow and her children, Mya and Zoe Ross; step-son, Chris Snell (Tocha), Merigomish and their daughter, Chloe; Judy’s children, Darin (Cindy), Scott (Sonya), Brad (Monica), Heather (James) and grandchildren, Daniel, Bryce, Adele, Rachel, Chase, Alicia, Andreas, and Athena; Judy’s mother, Jean Patterson, Woodfield; brothers, Gordon, Port Hawkesbury; Austin, Margaree; nieces, Darlene, Crystal, and Nadia. The family will receive visitors 2 - 2:45 p.m. Sunday, June 23 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Cecil’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity of choice. A reception will follow at Brad and Monica’s home.
