Obituary of Faye Elizabeth Smith
THE PONDS – Faye Elizabeth Smith, RN, 66, The Ponds, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Bessie Catherine (Arbuckle) Murdock. Faye graduated from the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in1968 and was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow before retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish, and the Merigomish and District Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Surviving are her sons, Tony (Denise) Dwyer, Acton, Ont.; Jeffrey (Dawn-Marie) Dwyer, Edmonton, Alta.; Woody (Teri Lyn) Dwyer, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; grandchildren, Marlie, Jamie, Carter, Rowan and Riley Dwyer; brothers, Jerry (Joan) Murdock, Stoney Creek, Ont.; Rev. Lloyd (Rev. Shirley) Murdock, Glace Bay; mother-in-law, Emily Donnelly, The Ponds; brother-in-law, Bill Smith, The Ponds; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Frederick Smith; sister, Jeanette in infancy
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14th in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barney’s River.
Donations may be made in Faye’s memory to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
