Obituary of William Ronald Weatherbie
TRENTON – William Ronald “Bill” Weatherbie, 90, Trenton, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 17, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Percy Raymond and Bertha Viola (Brown) Weatherbie. Bill was an electric welder, having been employed at the former Trenton Works for many years. He was a member of First United Church, Trenton. Bill had an “itchy foot”, he and Barbara travelled throughout Europe four times, and took many trips south to Florida, Jamaica, and Mexico. He fondly remembered the cross Canada drive he and Barbara took in 1997. Bill was a gentleman, who lived his life with integrity and grace.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Barbara Mary (MacFarlane); daughter, Catherine (John) MacLeod, Pictou; sons, Douglas (Debbie) Weatherbie, Lyons Brook; Robert “Rob” Weatherbie, Merigomish; William “Will” Weatherbie, Trenton; grandchildren, Abby Weatherbie, Matthew MacLeod (Jill) and David MacLeod (Craig); great-grandchildren, Ella, Ava, Isabelle and Lily; sister-in-law, Blanche MacFarlane, Merigomish; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Barbara Ryan; granddaughter, Dawn Marie Ryan; son-in-law, William “Billy” Ryan; sisters, Mable in infancy, Francis (Alex) Irving and Shirley (Floyd) Moore; brothers, Jim (Jo), Raymond (Lou), Roland (Bernice), Earl, Herb (Hazel) and Doug.
A private service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Interment will be in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou.
Bill's family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Team, especially, Ardis and Rachael and, the Pictou County VON staff.
