Obituary of Alvin Clark Gratto
NEW GLASGOW – Alvin Clark “Albie” Gratto, 64, New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Clarence Elwood and Ruby Georgina (Cameron) Gratto. Prior to retirement, he was employed with the Town of Trenton for many years. In younger years, he was employed with the former Trenton Works (Hawker Siddeley). Albie had been an avid hunter and fisherman in earlier years. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in the company of his friends. Albie was a true and generous friend, who possessed a dry sense of humour and quick wit. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and friends dearly.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Gratto; daughter, Tracy Gratto, New Glasgow; Kristeen Gratto (Daniel LeLacheur), Irish Mountain; son, Michael (Kelly) Gratto, Halifax; grandchildren, Triston, Devon and Kelsey Dewtie, Jeffrey Gratto, Kaleb Parker, Jessica and Alanah Gratto; great-granddaughter, Italia Gratto; brothers, Elwood (Grace) Gratto, Hardwood Hill; Melvin (Margie), Trenton; uncle, Douglas Cameron, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Marilyn MacKay; brother, Weldon; nephew, Weldon Jr.
A celebration of Albie’s life will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Whitetail Pub & Grill, Westville, beginning at 8 p.m.
