Obituary of Myrna Love Stewart
WATERSIDE – Myrna Love Stewart, RN, 81, passed away peacefully at home, on the morning of Friday, May 21, 2021 as the sun shone through the bay window off the water, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Scotsburn, she was a daughter of the late Hugh William ‘Billie” and Ina Love (Cameron) Stewart. Myrna was a graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1962. She began her career at the Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto, Ont.; continuing to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche; Humber Memorial Hospital, Toronto; Barton Place Nursing Home, Toronto; Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, B.C.; Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey; B.C.; Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou; office of Dr. Gordon Young, Pictou; Parkhaven Estates, Halifax and Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax until retirement in 1993. Myrna thoroughly enjoyed retirement. She was a “Snowbird”, travelling to Florida each year, where her door was “always open for a visit”. Myrna was very active in her Florida community, and was especially proud to be an organizer of the “Nova Scotia picnic” which was well attended by many Nova Scotians. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn. Myrna was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cherished sister and dear friend who possessed an indomitable sprit, love of travel, music and dance. Her infectious smile, warm hugs, thoughtfulness and boundless energy will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Surviving are her children, Pamela (Darrell) Snow, Waterside; Paul (Janet) Craig, Surrey; “adopted daughter”, Patti Logue, Peterborough, Ont.; grandchildren, Liam (Jane) Snow, Halifax; Bradley Snow, Toronto; Jenna Snow (Steven Stewart), Westville; Aaron Craig, Surrey; Laura and Emily Logue, Peterborough; great-granddaughter, Perrie Stewart; sister, Carol (Richard) Macleod, Sinclairs Island; brother, Gary (Doris) Stewart, New Glasgow; aunt, Joan Fanning, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Sylvia Stewart, Pictou; several nieces and nephews; many cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, John.
A private graveside service will be held.
Myrna’s family wish to thank all family and friends who sent cards, flowers, phoned, visited, and provided many treats, especially, those going to great lengths to provide her favorite fruit cake. They wish to also thank Pictou County VON and Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care for their support. They wish everyone to know how grateful Myrna was for all the love and assistance she received.
