Obituary of Raymond Michael Pettipas
GAIRLOCH – Raymond Michael “Ray” Pettipas, 71, Gairloch, passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2012 surrounded by family in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, he was the son of the late Angus Simon and Florence Etta (Currie) Pettipas. He was employed as a welder with the Trenton Works. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and animals. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Carol (Atwater); children, Debbie Rundle, Stellarton; Shelley (Brian) White, Fort McMurray, Alta.; Helen Pettipas (Rick MacKenzie), Thorburn; Mike (Shelley) Pettipas, Watervale; Vicky (Ron) McLean, Truro; Phil (Kim) Pettipas, Lincoln, N.B.; sisters, Mary (Herdman “Herdie”) Kellock, Truro; Greta Fraser, Ottawa, Ont.; Kathleen (John) Coleman and Sherri (Jim) Lockhart, Truro; brothers, Bill (Christine) Pettipas and Wilfred (Diane) Pettipas, London, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by two sisters, Angie Kellock and Doris Johnstone.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Gairloch.
