Obituary of Richard John Rhyno
WOODFIELD – Richard John Rhyno, 39, Woodfield, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 as the result of an automobile accident.
Born in Halifax, he is the son of Ian Cameron Rhyno and Julie Mary Doreen (Taillerfer) Rhyno-MacKenzie. Richard was employed with Nova Scotia Power, having previously worked in the Alberta oil patch. He was a natural athlete and was extraordinarily competitive. Richard was an avid sports fan, and was especially devoted to his beloved New England Patriots, who he just watched play at Gillette stadium earlier this month. He enjoyed the outdoors and lived life to the fullest. Richard was a wonderful son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, who will be deeply missed by all those he loved.
Surviving are his mother, Julie (Lewis) MacKenzie, Pictou Landing; father, Ian (Margaret) Rhyno, Greenwood; paternal grandmother, Jean Rhyno, New Glasgow; siblings, Michelle Rhyno (Candy), Riverton; Leah Rhyno (Nick), Springville; Tonya Halverson, Riverton; Kyle Halverson (Jennifer), Telford; Chris Halverson (Shauna), Westville; Betsy MacKenzie, Trenton; Louie-Dan MacKenzie (Christie), Abercrombie; Amanda (James) Green, Halifax; Mary-Ann MacDonald (Andrew), Mt. Uniacke; Cory MacDonald, Garden of Eden; uncles, Rick Taillerfer, North Bay, Ont.; James Rhyno, New Glasgow; Arthur (Laurie) Rhyno, Essex, Ont.; Colin (Deb) Rhyno, Long Island, N.Y.; Mike Cooke, Coalburn; many nieces, nephews and cousins; the Cyr/Chennell family: Kenny, Shelley, Chrysa and chosen son, Nick Frazee.
He was predeceased by his step-mother, Brenda Rhyno; paternal great-grandparents, Edward and Lila Cameron; maternal grandparents, Hubert and Diane Taillefer; paternal grandfather, John Rhyno; aunt, Joyce Cooke; uncles, Daniel, Jaime and Johnny Taillefer, and Douglas Rhyno.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 29th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 30th in the chapel with Mr. John Reeves officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
