Obituary of Leroy Siliker Murray
PONDS, MERIGOMISH – Leroy Siliker Murray, 75, Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Ponds, Merigomish, passed into eternity on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
Born in Ponds, he was a son of the late Chandler Gilbert and Aleta Elizabeth (Murdock) Murray. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Leroy was a well-known local accordion player and piano tuner. He enjoyed listening to music and playing with the Pictou County Fiddlers, The Fiddleheads and The Dock Gang. Leroy possessed an enduring faith in Jesus Christ with whom he now shares eternity.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Maureen O’Hagan, Marilyn MacAulay, Pauline MacAulay Murphy, Brian (Joanne) MacAulay, Brenda MacAulay, Margaret (Bill) Goodall, Marjorie (Jack) Fraser and Adam (Jennifer) MacAulay; aunts, Doris (Gerald) Thompson, Lower Barney’s River; Phyllis Murdock, Ponds; uncles, Jackie Murdock and Sammy Murdock, Ponds; sister-in-law, Kay (Sandy) MacPherson, Salem; many cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen; sister, Irene MacAulay; brother, Gilbert Murray; sister-in-law, Helen Murray; brother-in-law, Bud MacAulay; nephew, Allen MacAulay in infancy.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday Apr 21st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday Apr 22nd in the chapel with Maureen O’Hagan officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery, Lower Barney’s River.
