Obituary of Douglas Roy Atwater

LINACY – Douglas Roy “Doug” Atwater, 85, Linacy, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 2, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in Linacy, he was a son of the late Harold and Ada Millicent (Patton) Atwater. Doug began working at a young age in forestry and then with the Department of Highways. Prior to retirement, he had been employed for over 30 years with Trenton Works in the forge department. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent with his family. Surviving are daughters, Shirley Atwater (Jackie DesJardins), Grand Falls, N.B.; Patti Blackman, Halifax; Margaret Atwater (David Buell), Amherst; son, Stephen (Laurel Nash) Atwater, Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Sarah and Alexander Blackman, Aaron and Angela Atwater, Michael, Nathan, Devon and David Buell; sister, Margaret Atwater, British Columbia; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jennifer; brothers, Alvin, Kenneth and Harry. Doug’s life will be celebrated privately. No flowers please.
