Obituary of Wayne Bernard Oickle

MACLELLANS BROOK – Wayne Bernard Oickle, 69, MacLellans Brook, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Beaver Harbour, he was a son of the late Wallace Randall and Rose Mae (Whitman) Oickle. He had been employed with the former Tibbets Paints for over 25 years, retiring in the early 90’s. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. Wayne enjoyed fishing and playing darts with the Monday and Wednesday night dart leagues. He also enjoyed doing small engine repairs and was an avid Boston Bruins fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Louise (Murphy); daughter, Jennifer (Neville) Hawthorne, Calgary, Alta; son, Darren (Cathy), Aberdeen, Scotland; grandchildren, Grant, Riley and Mikail Oickle; Abigail Hawthorne; sisters, Greta McCallum, MacLellans Brook; Joyce (John) MacKarney, Westville; brothers, Darrell (Irene), Calgary; Lloyd (Sandy), Dartmouth; Peter (Geri), Halifax; Michael (Bernice), Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Nancy Oickle, Beaver Harbour; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Allan, Royce, Kenneth and Barry; brother-in-law, Don McCallum. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday , October 16th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17th in St. George’s Anglican Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Bill White officiating. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellans Brook. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
