Obituary of Charles Clifford Tattrie
MERIGOMISH – Charles Clifford Tattrie, Merigomish, 57, passed away January 11, 2017 after a life filled with fun and adventure.
Born in River John, he was a son of Margaret (Falconer) Tattrie, River John and the late Lloyd Tattrie. Charles spent his early years in River John before his family moved to Merigomish where he enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and his legendary gardening skills. He attended West Pictou School and upon graduation he took welding at the Vocational School in Stellarton. He worked at various companies until he returned to his true passion, lobster fishing. Nothing could keep him from his weekly card games at Big B’s shop.
Surviving are daughters, Amy Tattrie (Christian Smith), Merigomish; Ambrosia MacDonald (Stephen Lee), Edmonton, Alta.; son, Leon Smith (Michelle Fuego), Edmonton; granddaughters, Brooklyn, Tessa and Nova Smith; sister, Beverley (Neil) Hicks, Enfield; brothers, Alan (Joann Dion), Sackville; Peter Irving (Linda), Perry Sound, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Charles was predeceased by his partner and best friend, Patsy Smith; brother, Robert Tattrie.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan 16th in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
