Obituary of Catherine Eliza MacDonald
THORBURN – Catherine Eliza “Kay” MacDonald, 75, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 27, 2013 at home.
Born in Kirkmount, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Vernon and Mildred Eliza (Snow) Smith. Kay was a faithful member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Thorburn where she had served with the ACW and was a former president. She enjoyed quilt making, crocheting and spending time with her family at the Eden Lake cottage. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving are children, Charlotte (Cyril) Munroe, Thorburn; Finley (Vanda) MacDonald, Waterside; Aldena MacDonald (Bill), Hopewell; Ricky (Monique) MacDonald, Sylvester; Doris (Donald) Patterson, Thorburn; sisters, Lottie (Francis) Flavin, Mississauga; Margaret Watters, Pictou; Elda (Clarence) Watters, Riverton; brother, Everett Smith (Diane), Brookville; sister-in-law, Doris Sloan, Stellarton; grandchildren, Crystal (Todd), Nicholas (Colleen), Neil (Ashley), Matthew (Ashley), Lance (Shalene), Tyler, Nicole and Connor; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Eliza, Chase, Jackson, Isabelle, Cora, Caleb and Chloe; numerous nieces and nephews.
esides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Herbert “Bill” MacDonald; son, Harvey in infancy; granddaughter, Jaclyn in infancy; sister, Rena Bell; brothers, Vernon and Huntley; sister-in-law, Ann Ramsay.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 in the chapel with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury presiding. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
