Obituary of John Alfred Carmichael
STELLARTON – John Alfred “Snookie” Carmichael, 74, Stellarton, passed away, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alfred and Marion (Snooks) Carmichael. He was a welder, having worked at Trenton Works and retiring from the Pictiou Shipyards in 1994. Snookie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed the company of his dog, Princess.
Surviving are his girlfriend, Marjorie Robinson, Pictou; daughters, Stella (John) Cheek, Chatham, Ont.; Nancy (Kevin) MacInnis, Little Harbour; Carol (Bobby) Doucette, Trenton; son, Russell (Christine) Carmichael, New Glasgow; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; friend of 40 years, John Campbell; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mae Christina Bond; second wife, Kay MacPherson; sister, Shirley Sutherland.
There will be no visitation or service at John’s request.
