Obituary of Peter Joseph Verhagen
BAILEY’S BROOK – Peter Joseph Verhagen, 53, Bailey’s Brook, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 9, 2007 as the result of a tragic automobile accident.
Born in St. Peter’s, on October 30, 1954, he was a son of Adrian H. Verhagen and the late Johanna Cornelia (van Biggelaar) Verhagen. Moving with his family to Bailey’s Brook in 1961, he resided on the family farm, where he was primarily employed in forestry. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. Peter was an avid hunter. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, granduncle and friend.
Surviving besides his father, Adrian H., Bailey’s Brook; are sister, Anne (Jim) McNeil, Lower Barney’s River; brothers, Marinus (Dorothy) Verhagen, Linacy; John Verhagen, Adrian (Jocelyn) Verhagen Jr., Bailey’s Brook; nephews and nieces, Darcin, Johanna, Jimmy, Johannus, Julie, Rosie, Andrew and Adrian; grandnieces and grandnephews, Jordan, Jenna, Kyle, Brianna, Tyana, Teague, Dylan.
He was predeceased by his mother, Johanna; an infant brother.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
