Obituary of Annie Maude Swallow
THORBURN – Annie Maude Swallow, 77, Thorburn, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Julia (Ermence) James. Annie enjoyed dancing and in earlier years, camping with family. She greatly enjoyed talking with family around the kitchen table and sharing her many baked treats. Annie was a huge fan of the TV show, Frasier, having watched faithfully for years, including reruns. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Annie, along with her husband, Billy, raised seven children, an enduring legacy of which she was so very proud.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Billy; children, Bill Jr. (Faith), Donnie, Thorburn; Luke (Kimberly), MacLellans Brook; Susie (Dean) Laing, Fort McMurray, Alta.; Anna (Jim) Richard, Red Deer, Alta.; James (Darla), MacPhersons Mills; Randy, Thorburn; grandchildren, Billy Jr., Samantha, Jillian, Donnie Jr., Amberly, Luke Jr.; Jessica, Michelle, Dean Jr., Lindsay, Melanie and James Jr.; great-grandchildren, Colton, Jessa, Peter, Ava, Klara, Louie, Avery, Camryn, Seth and Scarlett; sisters, Dorothy (Joey) Morrison, Thorburn; Minnie Sartoris, Thorburn; Mary (Vince) Harned, St. John, N.B.; Rose MacEachern, Stellarton; Bertha (Jim) Simpson, Calgary, Alta.; brothers, Larry (Jelly) James, Stellarton; Herbie James, Thorburn; sisters-in-law, Colleen James, Stellarton; Marie James, New Glasgow; Laura Mae James, Burlington, Mass.; Elizabeth Swallow and Shirley Jones, Thorburn; best friends of 56 years, George and Dolly Rockey and family, Pine Tree; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Helen Stewart, Julie Sartoris; brothers, Alex, Andrew and Johnnie; sister-in-law, Liz “Lovie” James; brothers-in-law, Chalmers Stewart, Lawson and Lloyd Sartoris; great-granddaughter, Aria MacLeod; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 23rd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 24th in the chapel with Rev. Greg Dickson officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery with reception to follow in Union Presbyterian Church.
