Obituary of Evelyn Ruth Bannerman
MT. ADAM – Evelyn Ruth Bannerman, 55, Mt. Adam, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 9, 2009 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John Donald and Violet Ella (Adams) Sutherland. She was an adherent of Barney’s River Presbyterian Church, Kenzieville. For many years she had been employed in food services with Frank H. MacDonald Elementary School and the former East Pictou Rural High School. However, she was most happy with her current role as proud grandmother and babysitter to her beautiful grandsons, Duncan and Casey. Evelyn’s life was centered on her family, from baking delicious foods to the smallest details of family living; she loved each and everyone with all her heart.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Donnie; sons, Kirby (Angela), Foxbrook; Mark (Selena), Mt. Adam; Scott, at home; grandsons, Duncan and Casey; sisters, Anna Lee (Robert) Hamper, Kenzieville; Irene Sutherland (Doug MacKay), New Glasgow; brother, Johnnie (Johanna), Worchester, Mass.; aunts, Eileen Adams, Antigonish; Adelaide Adams, Cambridge, Mass.; Margie Adams, Scarborough, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12th in Barney’s River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Larry Welch officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
