DARTMOUTH – Kaaran Heather Wise, 77, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Friday, April 3, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital with her son by her side. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late John and Brenda Marie (DeYoung) Fortune. Kaaran was a member of St. Albans Anglican Church, Dartmouth. In earlier years, she was employed with the former Maritime Tel & Tel until the birth of her son, Trevor. She enjoyed sports and played softball with the Rebels from 1982-1986. Kaaran joined the Imperial Oil Curling League in 1976 and went on to a member of the Dartmouth Curling Club for over 25 years. She was a member of the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club for over 30 years and had represented Nova Scotia in the 2004 National Championships in British Columbia. Kaaran participated frequently in the Atlantic Bowls, traveling to tournaments throughout Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Quebec. She was a proud winner of the Christie Shield. Karen enjoyed many trips to Florida with her mother and in younger years, to Sebago, Maine, making many wonderful friends along the way. She enjoyed ceramics, tole painting, socializing at the grocery store and the friendship of her wonderful neighbours. Kaaran leaves a rich legacy of love and friendship. For Kaaran, “Life has changed; not ended!” Surviving are her son, Trevor (Ingrid) Wise, Linacy; granddaughters, Ava Marie and Alsa Marie; many cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Rex Wise. A private funeral service has taken place. A public memorial service will take place in Dartmouth when gathering restrictions have lifted. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
