Obituary of William Alexander Gratto

TRENTON – William Alexander “Bill” Gratto, 56, Trenton, formerly of Pictou Landing and Black Brook, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Henry and Viola (Nichols) Gratto. He was employed with Nova Scotia Power Generating Station, Trenton as a lead hand, utility person and heavy equipment operator for 33 years. He was an adherent of the Church of the Nazarene, Trenton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting firewood, entertaining family and friends at the camp. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Louise “Dot” (Pushie) Gratto; daughter, Kelly (Kevin) Ward, MacPherson’s Mills; son, Leigh (Lolita) Gratto, Trenton; grandchildren, Steven, David, Sara, Ashlee and Alan sisters, Barb Gill, New Glasgow; Carol (Eddie) Phalen, Betty Gratto, Trenton; brother, Don, Trenton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Donna Darlene Gratto in infancy. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Leon Teal officiating. Cremation to follow. Donations may be made in his memory to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
