Obituary of Sarah Margaret Bonvie

PRIESTVILLE – Sarah Margaret Bonvie, 94, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Priestville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in Priestville, she was a daughter of the late John James and Mary Barbara (LeBlanc) Bowden. She was the oldest living member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, where she had served with the Women’s Missionary Society, Social Committee and Board of Christian Education. Sarah was a member of the Kay Livingstone Visible Minority Women’s Society, Golden Years Club, Confederation of Senior Citizens, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 and a life-member of the Salvation Army Home League. Sarah will be remembered as a loving lady who opened her heart and home to everyone. Surviving are her daughter, Esther (Doug) Arnold, Houston, B.C.; sons, Preston Bonvie, Stellarton; Martin Bonvie, New Glasgow; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Hubert Bonvie; daughters, Barbara Weinburg and Jessie Bonvie; sons, Robert “Bobby” and George Ronald “Ron”; grandson, Christopher Bonvie; sisters, Esther Gomez, Jessie Tyler, Bessie Laro and Victoria DeYoung; brothers, Edward, Walter, William “Sam”, Joseph, Alex “Lally” and Jerry. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 22nd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 23rd in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow with repast to follow in Second United Baptist Church.
