Obituary of Wilfred Cameron MacGillivray

LISMORE – Wilfred Cameron “Bud” MacGillivray, 71, Lismore, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Wilfred Laurier and Esther Marjorie (Murdock) MacGillivray. Bud was employed with J. & K. Fisheries for many years as a truck driver, fisherman and mechanic, retiring due to ill health. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Mary “Mary-Bud” (MacKinnon); sons, Stephen (Shirley), David, John Allen, Lismore; grandchildren, Jonathan (Janina) and Jordyn “Poopsie”; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Cole; sisters, Eleanor (Peter) Slevin and Marsha (Alvin) MacDonald, The Ponds; brother, Kevin (Joan), Lismore; aunts, Anna Mason, The Ponds; Dorothy “Dot” Williams, Barney’s River; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Gordon. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 21st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 22nd in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Bud’s memory to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
