Obituary of Catherine Janet MacIvor
NEW GLASGOW – Catherine Janet “Kay” MacIvor, 90, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Henry Duby and Elizabeth Mae (MacIvor) MacLean. Prior to retirement, Kay was employed as a PCW at Valley View Villa, Riverton. She was member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish, Dorcas Rebekah Lodge No. 42, Thorburn and the Golden Girls Card Club. In earlier years, she and her husband spent their summers fishing and camping. She also enjoyed knitting and traveling with friends.
Kay was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews, and chosen family, Eleanor and Graeme.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John William MacIvor; sisters, Sarah MacLean, Elizabeth Marshall and Jessie MacLean; brothers, Angus, James, Harry, Alexander, William and Josiah.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday September 29 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday September 30 with Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Merigomish.
Donations may be made in Kay’s memory to Aberdeen Heath Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment or Riverview Cemetery.
