Obituary of Jessie Elizabeth Allen

NEW GLASGOW – Jessie Elizabeth (Lockhart) Allen, 78, New Glasgow, died Tuesday, September 2, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. She was born November 4, 1936 in New Glasgow, the daughter of the late Richard Harold and Jessie Alice (MacKay) Lockhart. Jessie worked as an X-Ray Technician with the Aberdeen Hospital for many years, where she made lifelong friendships. After retirement Jessie volunteered at the hospital and with the local food bank. She was a long-time resident of Stellarton and member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. Jessie loved her cross country travels, hockey, curling and a good cup of coffee. Her greatest joys were spending time at her cottage at King’s Head and being “Nana” to her four grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Albert; children, Susan Allen (Philip Murphy), Halifax; Jody (Georgia) Allen, Antigonish; Peter (Samantha) Allen, Nanaimo, B.C.; grandchildren, Rowan, Ben, Jessie and Brady; brothers, Allison Lockhart, New Glasgow; Edwin (Joan) Lockhart, Truro; brother-in-law, Donald Murray, Hampden, Maine; many devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Marguerite Lockhart and Morag Murray. The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. Saturday Sept 5 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
