THORBURN – Edith Margaret “Edie” MacIntosh, 78, Thorburn, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Robert Bruce and Mary Ellen (Turnbull) Wallace. Prior to retirement, she was employed in housekeeping at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Edie was a strong woman, full of love, who lived a sacrificial life in service to others, especially her family. Surviving are her daughters, Ruthie Kelm, Ontario; Marilyn (Ian) Fisher, Brookfield; Linda Weatley, Ontario; Norma MacIntosh, Donna MacIntosh, Thorburn; Christine (Randy) Crow, Truro; sons, Billy, Thorburn; John (Tammy), Central Caribou; sisters, Adeline Latter, New Glasgow; Eleanor Darroch, Stellarton; Jean (Jerry) O’Connor, Anderson’s Mountain; Lillian (Hugh) Graham, West Branch; Gloria Clyburn, Plymouth; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Wallace, Donald (Una) Wallace, Thorburn; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Grant; brother, Frank Wallace; brothers-in-law, Ron Clyburn, James Darroch. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb.18th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb.19th with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
