Obituary of Marjorie Faye Stewart
THORBURN – Marjorie Faye “Dokie” Stewart, 74, Thorburn, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Murdoch and Love (Malloy) MacEwan. Prior to retirement, Dokie was employed as a private caregiver and in earlier years was employed with the former Peter Pan Motel. She was an avid Bingo Player and enjoyed reading books. Dokie enjoyed singing and playing guitar, especially at the numerous family kitchen parties held over the years. She was very fond of her cat, Happy and grand furbabies; Ginny, Stewie, Patch, Damien, Little Miss, Cupcake, Sophie and Charlie. Above all, Dokie loved her husband, children and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her best friend and husband of over 50 years, Phillip; daughter, Sherry Lynn (David) George, Valley; son, Phillip Jr. (Laurie) Stewart, Thorburn; grandchildren, P.J. (Brittany), Bradley (Alisha), Shaelie and Christopher (Chantelle); sister, Patricia McKinnon, Stellarton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Marilyn “Chickie”, Edna, Teena and Betty in infancy; brothers, Lewis and Sheldon.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 6th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7th in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
