Obituary of George Wayne Barnett

TRENTON – George Wayne “Blackie” Barnett, 68, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Fraser) Barnett. Blackie was employed as a welder at the former Trenton Works for over 40 years. He was a member of First United Church, Trenton. Blackie enjoyed hunting, fishing and chatting with his friends at Tim Hortons. Surviving are his wife, Magdalene Ann “Peggy” (Pelrine); sons, George and Donnie, Trenton; grandsons, Ryan (Tara), Tyler; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Everleigh, Devin and Skylar; daughter in law, Sarah Bernard; brothers, Fraser Barnett, New Glasgow; sisters, Shirley (Gordon) Kellock, Glenfalloch; Alice MacKenzie, Trenton, Patsy Cook, Trenton; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Charles and James in infancy; sisters, Doris, Jean, Sally, Annie, and Marie; brothers, Kenneth, Jimmy and Willard. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec 1st in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec 2nd in the chapel with Rev. Bruce Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
