Obituary of Margaret Isabel MacDonald

PRIESTVILLE – Margaret Isabel MacDonald, 87, Priestville, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Lorne, she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Catherine Christine (MacLean) Crockett. She was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow where she served with the UCW, Unit C for many years. Isabel was a lifetime member and avid supporter of the Liberal Association. She had been an active member of the former Priestville Home and School, and life member of the Salvation Army Home League. Isabel enjoyed playing cards, especially 45’s and crib, and was always knitting something for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Surviving are her son, John (Virginia) MacDonald, Walkerville; daughters, Ann Shaw (Steven Stewart), Patricia (Douglas) Kenney, Trenton; Sharon (Calvin) DeYoung, Linacy; Debbie (Kimberley) MacFarlane, Stellarton; sister, Mabel Dunn, Pictou; brother, Ian (Janet) Crockett, Lorne; grandchildren, John, Steven, Kimberley, Catherine, Kelly, Dianne, Aaron, Tara, Michelle, Bradley, Elizabeth and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Sharon, Daniel, Sean, Harrison, Madelyn, Tyson, Haley, Avery, Shelby and Sarah; sisters-in-law, Jean MacDonald and Ruth Feit, Riverton; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John George MacDonald, sister, Eileen Heron; brother, Rae Crockett; granddaughter, Victoria Ashley MacFarlane; great-grandson, Hayden Mombourquette. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Trinity United Church with Rev. Dr. Norman Marple presiding. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellans Brook at a later date. Donations may be made in Isabel’s memory to Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
