Obituary of Patrick James Gordon
LINACY – Patrick James “Pat” Gordon, 89, peacefully went to be with his Lord, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Joseph Spencer Sylvester and Nasturea Ella (Steele) Gordon. He served and was wounded overseas (Europe and North Africa) with the Canadian Army during the Second World War and was employed with the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton as a welder prior to retirement. Pat was a faithful member of Maranatha Bible Church, New Glasgow and had been previously a very active member of Trenton Church of the Nazarene. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend. Pat’s legacy is his persistent faith in an unfailing Saviour.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Rita Florence (Gratto); son, Fred (Beverly) Gordon, Dartmouth; daughters, Ella Spaulding-MacLean, Stellarton; Mary (Freeman) Hodgins, Manteca, Calif.; grandchildren, Ondra (Paul) DeJager, Jamie (Tanya) Spaulding, Gordie (Alice) Spaulding, Patrick (Ashley) Spaulding, Reuben (Lori) Hodgins, Rebecca (Troyer) Sybrant; great-grandchildren, Olivia DeJager, Emma, Aiden, Bailey, Jeremy, Josh, Caleb, Noah and Kendell Spaulding, Zane and Ella Sybrant.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Maranatha Bible Church with Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating.
No flowers by request. Donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Maranatha Bible Church.
