SUTHERLAND’S RIVER - Helen Young, 69, Sutherland’s River passed away peacefully, Monday, April 29, 2013 at home. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Parker and Margaret (Hanes) Young. She was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church, Sutherland’s River. Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a Lab Technician with the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow for 35 years. She was a member of the Telford Cemetery Board where she served as Treasurer. Helen enjoyed reading and spending time with her pets. Surviving are sister, Carol Ann (Donnie) MacDonald, Big Island Rd.; brother, Wayne (Peggy) Young, Linacy; Robert (Betty) Young, Hopewell; several nieces, nephews and cousins Besides her parents she was predeceased by her nephew, Stephen MacDonald, sister-in-law, Donna Young and special cousin, Isabel Hopkins. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 3 in Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will follow in Telford Cemetery. Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church or Telford Cemetery Fund.
