Obituary of Hazel Mae MacDonald

THORBURN – Hazel Mae MacDonald, 83, Thorburn, formerly of Kenzieville, passed away, Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Leila Dale (Brown) (Stroud) Gunn. Prior to retirement in 1998, Hazel was employed in private home care for many years. In earlier years, she was employed with Sobeys, Nova Scotia Power and Lismore Fisheries. “Nanna” loved and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. She cherished playing with her grandchildren, cuddling and holding her great-grandchildren – family was everything. Surviving are her daughter, Darlene (Darrell) Maldre, Thorburn; sons, Kevin (Robin) MacDonald, Kenzieville; Curtis (Leanne) MacDonald, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Jordan, Colby, Oakley, Courtney, Shelley, Ryan, Eric, Trevor, Brennan and Haley; great-grandchildren, Lily and Lucas; niece, Marsha Buell; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Allister Gordon MacDonald; son, Brad MacDonald; sisters, Jean Buell and Ora Fraser; brothers, Theodore, Ernest and William Stroud. The family will receive visitor 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19 in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Kenzieville Cemetery. Family flowers only.
