Obituary of Sharon Augusta Jean McPherson
STELLARTON – Sharon Augusta Jean McPherson, RN, 78, Stellarton, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at home.
Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late John Angus “Gus” and Laura Ruth (MacGillivray) MacDonald. Sharon was a proud graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1963. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Aberdeen Hospital until final retirement in 2010. Sharon was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. She was an energetic lady who loved to work. Sharon and her husband, Duggie, travelled extensively and spent many enjoyable summers at Brudenell, P.E.I. In younger years, she, Duggie and their five children spent countless hours in the hockey rink, camping and having fun. Sharon possessed a wonderful sense of adventure and now has embarked on her greatest journey. For Sharon, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, John W. “Duggie” McPherson Sr.; children, Jane E. (Peter) MacDonald, Linacy; Richard D. “Ritchie” McPherson, Calgary, Alta.; Michael A. (Jocelyn) McPherson, Stellarton; Brian C. McPherson, Calgary; LCol Dr. John W. “Duggie” (Kelly) McPherson Jr., Cambridge; grandchildren, Noah, Leah, Jack, Claire, Robert, Christopher, Jennifer and Ches; sister, Heather (Eric) Mars, Airdrie, Alta.; nephews, David, Steven and Adam Burke; sisters-in-law, Mary “Mamie” MacAloney, New Glasgow; Diane McPherson, Stellarton; several aunts and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother at birth; nephew, William Burke; brother-in-law, Jack MacAloney.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 17th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton.
