NEW GLASGOW – Catherine Constance MacDonnell, 108, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of High Street, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the manor. Born on September 14, 1905 in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Vernisha (Cunningham) MacDonnell. Catherine was employed with the former Maritime Tel and Tel in New Glasgow and Halifax. She was also employed as a housekeeper for the clergy who served Holy Name Parish, Westville for a number of years. Catherine was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Surviving are her cousin, M. Theresa MacDonnell, Fraser’s Mountain; friend, Claire MacDonnell, New Glasgow. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John. In keeping with Catherine’s wishes there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Special thank you to the staff of High Crest Place, New Glasgow for making her life enjoyable and comfortable for over 15 years and to the staff of Glen Haven Manor for the excellent care she received over the past year.
