TRENTON - Catherine Louise “Toots” Chisholm, 84, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the Villa. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (MacLean) Chislett. Toots was a faithful member of the former Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. Prior to retirement, she was employed with Quality Cleaners, Bagnells and Cole’s Book Store. Toots was a very kind and welcoming lady, who possessed an inner strength which relied upon a deep faith in God. She will be remembered for her kindness and feeding everyone who came to her home. For Toots life has changed; not ended! Surviving are her daughters, Marie (Chris) Lamey, New Glasgow; Wendy Chisholm, Trenton; grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Feltmate and their son, Tyler, Pictou Landing; Jillian Laffin (Sheldon Paul) and their children, Sheldon J., Marlee and Tatum, Pictou Landing; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Allain, Bernadette (Joe) Hughes and Peggy (Jack) Jardine, Trenton; brother, James Chislett, New Glasgow; former son-in-law, Bruce Laffin, Abercrombie; sisters-in-law, Kay Chisholm, Summerside, PEI; Shirley Chisholm, Williams Point; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Colin Chisholm; sisters, Millie, Shirley, Cathy and Anderine; brother, Fred “Bud”; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Mary Ann, Cecelia, Christie, Rose and Joyce; brothers-in-law, Alonzo, Gordon, Ray, Ambrose, Jim, Ronald and Dick. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday May 26th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 27th in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, with Father Thomas MacNeil presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Toot’s memory to Valley View Villa Recreation Fund.
