Obituary of Doreen Mae Hill
THE PONDS – Doreen Mae Hill, 53, The Ponds passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Mae (MacLaren) MacDonald. Doreen was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. She enjoyed painting, gardening, collecting beach glass and playing backgammon. Doreen was a very loving person who believed in supporting her church and community.
Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Dale Hill; daughters, Madeline Hill, The Ponds; April Hill (Scott), Egerton; sons, Matthew Hill (Rachael), Linacy; Robbie (Shauna) Hill, Trenton; Ray (Caitlin) Worthen, Toronto, Ont.; siblings, Wayne (Charlotte) MacDonald, Woodburn; Louie (Dorothy) MacDonald, Egerton; Roy (Darlene) MacDonald, Merigomish; Shelia MacLellan, Abercrombie; Vera (Chuck) Roberts, Blake (Terri) MacDonald, Patsy (Charles) Smith, Egerton; Willena MacDonald (Hugh Cameron), Pleasant Valley; Glen (Lori) MacDonald, Egerton; brother-in-law, Jim Moriarty, Stellarton; grandchildren, Shelby, Gage, Wyatt, Chael, Marissa, Jesse and Lucas; friends, Cathy Cormier, Kathy Munroe and Kippy MacDonald; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Winston; sister, Brenda Moriarty.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 26 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
