Obituary of Martin Joseph Gracie
NEW GLASGOW – Martin Joseph Gracie, 72, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Gracieville, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Mary Margaret Gracie. Martin was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Prior to retirement he owned and operated Martin Gracie Auto Body, and was a life-long car enthusiast, partial to the Dodge and Chrysler brand. He was a loyal family man who also enjoyed nothing more than engaging in conversation with friends he would meet. He enjoyed an active lifestyle of skating and walking, but also politics, movies and travelling. He was an avid radio enthusiast, enjoying AM broadcasts such as Coast2Coast AM. Above all he was a loving husband and father.
Surviving are his wife and best friend of 44 years, Sharon Ann (Campbell); daughter, Monique Gracie, Dartmouth; son, Martin Gracie Jr., Montreal; mother-in-law, Emma Campbell, New Glasgow; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; aunt, Martha Gracie, L’Ardoise; several cousins.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10th in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow.
