Obituary of John George Dalitsouris

TRENTON – It is with great sadness the friends of John George Dalitsouris, 89, Trenton, announce his passing on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Paleopania, Lakonia, Greece on December 24, 1924, he was a son of the late George Demetoris and Starvous (Natiso) Dalitsouris. He immigrated to Canada in 1961 and worked with his uncle, Johnny Peanut, in the former Royal Tobacco Store, New Glasgow. In 1972, he opened the former J.G. Dallas New Glasgow Cafe. John moved to Lyons Brook in 1982, where he operated a bee farm until retirement. He was a member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Halifax. John will be lovingly remembered as a kind and caring friend. Surviving are his friends, Fraser and Lorraine MacLeod, Trenton; Michelle (John), Churchville; Marla (Josh) MacKay, Toney River a nephew and several cousins in Greece. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Demetrois; uncle, John. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, September 24 in the chapel with Father Panagiotis Maropoulos presiding. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton. Donations may be made in John’s memory to Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses. (Please click to donate.)
