Obituary of Sylvia Anne Dewtie
MACLELLAN’S MOUNTAIN - Sylvia Anne Dewtie, 71, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of MacLellan’s Mountain, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in the Villa.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Elizabeth Florence “Betty” (MacBournie) Laderie, Haven Brook Manor, Riverton and the late John Joseph Laderie. She was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. Sylvia enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving besides her mother, Betty, are daughters, Susan Dewtie, Rose Dewtie (Kenny), Thorburn; sons, Edward (Donna), Rossfield; John (Lynn), Greenwood; Gary (Kathy), New Glasgow; son-in-law, Herbie James, Thorburn; sister, Judy (Allan) Thomsen, Bridgeville; grandchildren, Lisa, Denise, Jenna, Melanie, Jeff, Amanda, Marshall, Brian, Danielle, Chad, Samuel, Sylus, Hailey; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marion Ladriere, MacLellan's Mountain; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters and brothers-in-law.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” James, a daughter and son in infancy; brother, Johnny Laderie.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at Sylvia’s request. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Private interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn.
