Obituary of Margaret Reta Isabel MacDonald

NEW GLASGOW – Margaret “Reta” Isabel MacDonald, 91, Glen Haven Manor,formerly of High Street, New Glasgow, passed away Sunday March 8, 2015 in the manor, surrounded by her family. Born in Broadway, Pictou County on October 17, 1923 she was the daughter of the late John and Jettie (Chisholm) Wilkinson. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church,New Glasgow and life member of the Silver Cross Women of Canada.Reta was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, Ladies Auxilary, New Glasgow.She enjoyed gardening and playing bingo and the company of her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Surviving are daughter, Pearl (Ralph) Mombourquette, Rockdale; grandchildren – Gaye (Greg) Middleton, Rochelle (James) Burry,and Shawn Mombourquette. Great grandchildren- Emily, Kari & Joel Middleton; Nathan and Lauren Burry. Besides her parents,she was predeceased by her husband James; son, James; sisters Frances MacDonald, Elizabeth Curley and Violet Wilkinson. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 11 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. in P & K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be at a later date in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made Margaret’s memory to any charity of choice.
