Obituary of Elliott Franklin Baker
NEW GLASGOW – Elliott Franklin Baker, 84, New Glasgow, passed away suddenly, Monday, September 12, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Liscomb, he was a son of the late Arthur Baker and Mary (Gaskell) (Baker) Mailman. In earlier years he had been a fisherman. He had worked the majority of his life as a Well Driller, having been employed with various companies in Pictou County. Elliott enjoyed helping others and was his wife’s “right hand man”. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Anne (McInnis); son, Glenn (Shirlee Heighton), Lyons Brook; daughter, Brenda (Don) Conklin, Lytton, B.C.; grandchildren, Troy, Morgan, Jeff, Matthew, Sherry, Tyler and Steven; a great-granddaughter; half-sister, Doris (David) Granter, Liscomb; Eldie (Wally) Naughler, Mosher River; Verena (Vance) Croft, Truro; Kathleen (Arch) Rose, St. John’s, N.L.; half-brothers, Gerald (Beverly) Mailman, Westville; Lloyd (Susan) Mailman, Halifax; Hector (Rene) Mailman and Doug (Georgina) Mailman, Liscomb; Delbert (Stella) Mailman, Port Auchoix, N.L.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy; brother, Mac Baker; half-brothers, Truman and Russell Mailman; granddaughter, Nicole Heighton.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton.
