Obituary of George Whitman Coady
ABERCROMBIE \ LOCH KATRINE - George Whitman Coady age 86 , Abercrombie and Loch Katrine passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, surrounded by his family, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Frederick Michael and Mary Eleanor (Delorey) Coady. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. George was a member of the Pictou County Amateur Radio Club (VE1HH) for 61 years and was part of the EMO organization. He had worked for Acadia Coal and Cooke’s Transfer as a truck driver. George enjoyed many hours on the lake fishing for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Pearl (MacLean); daughters, Ann Marie Coady, Blue Mountain; Judy (Will) Reese, Fort Worth, Texas; son, Robert “Robbie” (Joan) Coady, Blue Mountain; brother, Colin “Duke” Coady, Stillwater; sisters-in-law, Lillian Coady, Stellarton; Rita Coady, Trenton; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne, David Michael and John Robert; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Alvin, Jack, Kathleen “Kay” Gratto, Henry and Ralph “Bud”.
The Family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday Sept. 6 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 in Our Lady Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. Interment will follow in the Abercrombie Cemetery.
