Obituary of Kenneth Roy Guthro
WALKERVILLE – Kenneth Roy Guthro, 89, Walkerville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 2, 2022 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Peter Alexandre and Catherine (Townsley) Guthro. At the young age of 17, Kenneth joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in continental Europe and Korea. Following, he had been a sheet metal worker in Ontario and Nova Scotia for over 45 years. Kenneth was a very caring and generous man who wished to help people without recognition. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed working. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by those he loved.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Helen Charlotte (Avery) Guthro; children, Dawn (Gary) Humphreys, Walkerville; Steven (Kippy), Bailey’s Brook; Beth (Jeff) Williams, Ponds; grandchildren, Meghan, Luke, Jake, Janae, Charlotte and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Kate, Jordan, Andrew, Braelyn, Lilah, Hendrix and Remi; siblings, Diane and John; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by granddaughter, Shona; siblings, Elsie, Peter, John James, Aggie, Rose Ann, Martha, Mary, Henry, Frank, Peggy and Dorothy.
In keeping with Kenneth’s wishes his family will celebrate his life privately.
Donations may be made in Kenneth’s memory to Priestville Cemetery.
