Obituary of Jean Margaret Lawton

ABERCROMBIE – Jean Margaret Lawton, 88, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Abercrombie, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family.

 

Born in, England, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie Chadwick. Jean, his late husband, Peter, and infant daughter, immigrated to Canada in 1959. She was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church, New Glasgow, where she served and assisted where possible. Jean loved people and would strike a conversation with anyone.  She and Peter were excellent dancers and never missed an opportunity to grace the floor. Jean enjoyed playing cards and darts.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by those she loved.

 

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Margaret Peckham, New Glasgow; sons, Stuart Mark Lawton, Truro; Stephen John (Glenda) Lawton, Halifax; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patricia Clough and Georgina Lawton, England; several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Peter; sister, Moira Nelson; son-in-law, Larry Peckham; brothers-in-law, David Lawton, and Donald Clough; niece, Sheryl Clough.

 

Her family will celebrate her life privately.
