Obituary of Barbara Ann Beaton
NEW GLASGOW – Barbara Ann “Barb” Beaton, 72, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Alexander “Alex” and Mary Zilliah Rector. Barb was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church. She was an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. A past member of the Zone 6 Colour Party and St. John Ambulance. Barb enjoyed the fellowship of the Monday Night Over 50 Club and Tuesday Mixed Dart League. She possessed a “heart of gold” and always put others before herself. Barb possessed an eternal beauty and leaves a rich legacy of love.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, D. Robert “Bob” Beaton; daughters, Wendy (Fred), New Glasgow; Nicole (Allister), Stoney Plain, Alta.; Ann Marie (Rick), New Port Richey, Fla.; sons, Doug (Eva), Westville; Robert (Leah), Halifax; Pat, Dartmouth; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence MacAulay, Pine Tree; Laura Fraser, New Glasgow; brothers, John (Diane), Pine Tree; sisters-in-law, Mildred, Pine Tree; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Mary Brewer; brothers, Angus, King, James and Hibbie; sisters-in-law, Vivian and Emily; brothers-in-law, Donny, Roddie and Harold.
In honour of Barb’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made in Barb’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
