Obituary of Dale MacDonald

With great sorrow, we the family, announce the passing of Leonard Dale MacDonald, 38, Bailey’s Brook, surrounded by his family on May 14, 2022, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born on July 22, 1983, Dale was a son of Joseph Miles and Joan Marie MacDonald, Bailey’s Brook. Dale will always be remembered for his huge heart and unforgettable smile. He had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh. His proudest moment and greatest accomplishment was the birth of his son, Damon. He loved Damon more than anything else in the world and truly treasured every moment that they spent together. Although Dale always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he also enjoyed quiet solitude. He loved spending the day fishing, walking on the beach or adventuring the back roads on a four-wheeler or a side-by-side. He also enjoyed cooking, but …. God help anyone who had to clean up after him. Dale was a friend to all and would give the shirt off his back. He will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion towards people – no matter their circumstance.

Besides his parents, Dale is survived by son, Damon James MacDonald and his mother, Michelle Shindruk; brother, Robert (Sara) MacDonald; sister Jennifer MacDonald; nieces and nephews, Claire, Brayden, Kali, Miles, Emily, Bailey, Kassidi and Bree; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dale was predeceased by paternal grandparents Dougall and Carmel MacDonald; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Margaret MacDonald; aunt, Ruth McGrath; uncles, Leo MacDonald in infancy and Robert MacDonald.

The family would like to thank Emergency Health Services and the staff of the Aberdeen Hospital for their compassion and dedication to Dale and his family. To his brother, Robert and Dale’s good friend Oden Robichaud – no words can say “thank you” enough.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Colin F. MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in Lismore Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Lismore Community Centre.

The family request that those attending the service please wear a mask.
