Obituary of Sheldon Vance Marshall Cromwell
NEW HARBOUR – Sheldon Vance Marshall Cromwell, 58, New Harbour, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, after a short battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Carman and Sweedlyn Hurlock (Paris) Cromwell. Prior to retirement due to ill health, he had been employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for over 30 years. Sheldon was a proud member of the New Glasgow Fire Department, a passion he loved to pursue. He loved his new home in New Harbour, the joy of looking over the river and the beautiful scenery that surrounded him. Sheldon spent many enjoyable hours looking after his property, tinkering in the shop, and driving his “modified” lawn tractor. He loved playing board games with friends and family as it permitted all participating to experience joy, togetherness, and love. Sheldon was a determined, gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be dearly missed by those he loved.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Elizabeth Laing; daughter, Kaela (John), New Glasgow; sons, Jacy (Jessica), Harmony; Oliver (Jen), Edmonton, Alta.; step-daughters, Sherry Freckelton Laing, New Glasgow; Patricia (Matthew) MacWilliam, Churchville; grandchildren, Jay, Tanner and Scotia Cromwell; Dahleah Hingley, Eleanor Cooke, Emma Freckelton, Kristina and Austin Earle; sisters, Johanna, Shelley (Daniel), Chantelle (Rick) and Tara; brothers, Jack Sr., James, Shawn, and John Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
