Obituary of Carol Diane Rector
NEW GLASGOW – Carol Diane Rector, 72, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 15, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born on December 23, 1949, in Montague, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Hamilton and Mary (Campbell) MacLennan and a foster daughter of the late John and Alice (Meikle) Wilkinson. Prior to retirement due to ill health in 2004, she was employed as a Continuing Care Assistant with the Victorian Order of Nurses, Pictou County. Carol was an Associate Member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton and enjoyed attending the Friday night karaoke dances. She was a loving, caring, and thoughtful lady who loved her family dearly.
Surviving are her daughter, Juanita (Shawn), Stellarton; son, Jason (Joanne), Belfast, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Katie, Tylor, Kelly, Amanda, Chyanne, Curtis, Bree, Calvin, Alex and Kody; great-grandchildren, Brent, Destiny, Zelda, Jasper, Elena and Paisley; sisters, Diane (Buck) Perry, New Glasgow; Jeanie (Dave) Thomas, Coburg, Ont.; brother, Bobby Wong, Coburg; foster brother, David (Hermine) Wilkinson, Plymouth; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and foster parents, she was predeceased by brothers, David, Raymond and Vernon; foster brother, Donald Wilkinson.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 18 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 19 in the chapel with Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating.
A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 20 in Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28, Stellarton.
Donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the IWK Foundation.
