Obituary of Peggy Delorey
PICTOU LANDING - Peggy (Petrie) Delorey, 66, lost the battle on October 30, 2022, after a lifelong struggle with depression and mental illness. Her life is a true example of what it means to be a fighter and Peggy was one of the strongest people we had the honour of knowing. In the face of so much hardship, she persevered. Peggy always tried to live life to the fullest. Up until the day we lost her, she was talking about a family hike.
Peggy was a strong advocate for mental illness and found great value in helping others. She volunteered for the Tearmann Society for Abused Women and Glen Haven Manor. Peggy was so very proud of her eight years of sobriety, as is her entire family. Peggy was a dedicated wife to her husband Dave and love of her life for 48 years, mother to Jenny, Christian, and Noah, and grandmother to Simon and Annaliese. She had a love of painting, and a big heart for animals. She loved to watch Hope for Wildlife and was so happy when she got to be there in person while they released some foxes, with Dave, only a few short months ago. She cherished her escape from the harsh Nova Scotia winters, to the warm summer beaches down south. She loved when she had the opportunity to socialize with her closest friends and always had a way of putting a smile on peoples faces. Peggy loved to have the music up a touch too high, and often remarked on how music was her escape.
Mom and Dad would always say “Big Sky Love” to each other, as an expression of their deep love. Nana cherished her deep and loving conversations with her grandson Simon, and her efforts to steal a hug from her granddaughter Annaliese.
Peggy was predeceased by her father, Arthur Petrie; mother, Marie; brothers, Lenny and Kevin. She is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Jenny, Christian (Lori), Noah, and grandchildren, Simon, and Annaliese. Peggy will also be missed by her dearest friends - Cheryl, Heather, Marie, and Peggy. Also, her extended family, Peggy and Rick DeCoste, Gerald and Kathy Delorey, Marie Chisholm, Richard and Gosha Delorey, Darrell Delorey and many nephews and nieces, who Peggy loved dearly.
A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 5 in the Glasgow Square Theatre, New Glasgow with family eulogy at 2:30 p.m., following, those attending are welcome to speak and share their memories.
In Peggy’s memory, donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife or Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Lovingly submitted by family.
