Obituary of Francis Andrew Walsh
WESTVILLE – Francis Andrew “Frankie” Walsh, 95, Westville, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away suddenly, Sunday, November 20, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Merland, Antigonish Co., he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Bowman) Walsh. Francis served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Following he served with the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery until honourable discharge. Francis then was employed with General Electric, Toronto for 10 years before moving back to New Glasgow, where he was employed in construction until retirement. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow. For Francis, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are his son, Joe (Cathi), Westville; grandchildren, Amber (Stevie), Halifax; Andrew (Lior), Halifax; chosen grandchildren, Ashley, Bailey and Riley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean Marie Walsh; sisters, Catherine DeCoffe and Mary (Ludington) (Carey) Corbett; brothers, James, Ernest, John, William, Peter and Leslie Walsh.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday November 30, 2022, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Tom Stephan presiding, assisted by Deacon Sander Burke. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
