Obituary of Jackie Tobin
NEW GLASGOW – It is with deep sadness that the family of Darrell Jacqueline “Jackie” Tobin announces her peaceful passing at the age 92 on Friday, November 25, 2022, in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Halifax, Jackie was a daughter of the late Fred Douglas and Gertrude Elizabeth (Benson) Covey. She possessed a strong faith in her Lord and was a faithful member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, where she had served with the Woman’s Missionary Society, Ladies Aid and as a Sunday school teacher. Jackie volunteered for many local organizations and supported her husband in his charitable pursuits. Above all, Jackie cherished being a mother and homemaker. She embodied Proverbs 31, “many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all”.
Surviving are her children, Michael (Sheila), Pictou; Darren (Terri), Owen Sound, Ont.; Kelly Tobin, Stellarton; Christopher “Chris” (Denise), Churchville; grandchildren, Jana, Tyler, Mitchell (Meghan), Joel (Samantha), Danielle, Craig (Chimonay); great-grandchildren, Brady, Brandon, Chelsea, Jacob, Caleb, Ainsley, Evelyn, Rosaleen and Finnian; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Thomas George Tobin; sister, Jean Thomas.
The family will receive visitors 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow where a brief devotional will be held with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou.
Jackie's family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Aberdeen Hospital Emergency Department doctors and nurses the wonderful care she recieved. They are most grateful to the Glen Haven Manor staff, especially the second floor staff, for the exceptional care she received in her final days.
